A long time in the making, Pixie and Brutus, everyone’s favorite comic duo, have returned to the world of comics with their latest wacky adventures.

According to Ben, Pixie and Brutus began as a random comic concept he had at work, and he had no intention of making it into a series. Good to know! And we’re not alone – other admirers of the duo can’t get enough and have already started developing their own! “Pet Foolery,” Ben’s webcomic, is a huge hit on the internet. Pixie and Brutus have almost 3 million Instagram followers! There are also more than 20,000 Patreon supporters. When I first started producing Instagram illustrations as a side gig to make some extra money, I had over a million followers, and it became my full-time profession! In his Patreon page, Ben talks about how he got to where he is today.

Bored Panda has already spoken with the artist on two occasions to learn more about what he’s up to and how he came up with the idea for the animation.

It is a little kitten with a lot of energy and excitement. Her innocence and naivety to danger are both present,” Ben told Bored Panda in an interview. For his part, Brutus is a huge German Shepherd with a scarred face. Following his retirement as a Military Working Dog, he was taken in by Pixie’s owner (MWD). There are several aspects in which Brutus is the complete opposite of Pixie. He’s… Seen things. In spite of his somber demeanor, Pixie is protected by him from the terrible truths of the world around them.”

As a matter of fact, I came up with the idea for Pixie and Brutus while I was at work. In the beginning, I had no intention of turning them into a series. The first Pixie and Brutus comic was so well received that Ben continued to create them.

As Ben explained in another interview, “I do care about the performance of each comic, but I worried about it before I developed Pixie and Brutus.”

I get plenty of comments from my readers about what they enjoyed about the comic and what they thought was going to happen. I also get ideas for future comics and new characters. Many funny comics in my feed are probably the result of a comment on one of my posts.”

In addition, Brutus has become less hostile to other characters in recent years, but other than that, the comics have evolved with time, he said. “It’s almost the same.”

That would be a long-term project, but I thought it would be wonderful to see them adapted into TV shows. Perhaps it will never happen, but maybe,” Ben said of his future hopes.
